The Butler Area School District will pay legal fees over the original amount set for an athletic department investigation.
At their meeting Monday night, the school board voted to make a final payment of nearly $3,000 to the law firm Jones Passodelis after an investigative review was done of the girls’ basketball program last spring.
Attorney Marie Millie Jones was contracted to conduct the investigation at a cost not to exceed $20,000; however, in order to bring the situation to an agreeable resolution, the district administration required her to attend other meetings and incur additional costs.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Dorothea Epps was retained as coach of the Butler Girls’ Basketball team.
