Construction could begin as soon as this summer on a new gas station near the busy border between the City of Butler and Butler Township.
According to Butler Township Zoning Officer Jesse Hines, a representative of Speedway recently confirmed to him that construction is scheduled to begin this August at the corner of Hansen Avenue and Fairground Hill Road.
Speedway owns the property where the Dunbar Center is currently located and has a substantial investment in the engineering plans for the site. The Butler Township commissioners gave approval to Speedway’s plans to build a new convenience store several years ago but the company has not yet moved to begin the project. Speedway just needs to pick up their building permit before breaking ground and that could happen soon.
The 7-Eleven gas station on the other side of Hansen Avenue in the city of Butler has closed.
