The Nascar Hall of Fame Class of 2018 was announced Wednesday in Charlotte, North Carolina. The honorees include Ken Squier, one of Nascar’s original broadcasters, and co-founder of the Motor Racing Network in 1970. Red Byron, who won Nascar’s first “Strictly Stock” championship in 1949, the precursor to today’s Cup Series. Ron Hornaday, who claimed four Truck Series championships and has a series-record fifty-one victories. Ray Evernham, the crew chief who guided Jeff Gordon to three Cup Series championships over a four-year stretch, and 47 race victories in the 1990’s. The leading vote-getter was master engine builder and former car owner Robert Yates, who appeared on 94% of the ballots. They will be honored next January.
