Police have arrested the two men accused of leading police on a chase over the weekend that ended up injuring three Butler City officers.
27-year-olds Ryan Wilson and Joshua McBride- both of Butler- remain in the Butler County Prison.
The incident began about 2 a.m. Saturday when city officers attempted to pull over a green Nissan Xterra on Chestnut Street in the city of Butler. The occupants were suspected of a recent retail theft in Butler Township.
Authorities say the driver- McBride- refused to stop and continued northbound on Mercer Road and was slowed utilizing spike strips deployed by Butler Township police.
The suspected vehicle then purposefully struck two marked Butler City police cars, according to Butler City Police Chief Bob O’Neill, and then traveled over an embankment in the Crossfire Church parking lot at the intersection of Mercer Road and Route 8 in Center Township.
Both suspects then initially fled the scene. McBride was taken into custody with assistance from Pennsylvania State Police. According to police, McBride resisted arrest while being taken into custody.
Police were initially searching for Wilson, but he has also since been apprehended.
Three Butler City Police officers were hurt. Two were treated and released from Butler Memorial Hospital. The third officer refused initial treatment.
According to police, both McBride and Wilson had outstanding warrants for recent felonies in the City of Butler.
Following his arrest, Mcbride was taken to the Butler Hospital. He was complaining of burning skin from his cocaine use, according to police. The Nissan Xterra he was driving was reported stolen last week. There was drug paraphernalia consistent with heroin use found in the vehicle, according to police.
McBride was placed in the Butler County Prison awaiting arraignment on his previous charges. For this event he was charged with the following crimes: Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer (Felony 2 counts), Aggravated Assault while DUI (Felony 2 counts), Fleeing and Eluding an Officer (Felony 2 counts), Receiving Stolen Property (Felony 1 count), Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor 1 count), amd DUI of a Controlled Substance (Misdemeanor 1 count).
