Two people were killed and one person was seriously injured in a fiery crash just north of the Butler County line in Clarion County.
The two-vehicle, head-on crash happened Saturday evening on Route 208 (north of Emlenton) between Nickleville Road and Ron McHenry Road.
According to State Police, 21-year-old Dylan Meals of Knox was traveling east on Rt. 208 in the oncoming lane of traffic. Brandon Switzer, 21, of Emlenton was traveling west on Rt. 208 in the right, slow lane of traffic.
As the two pickup trucks approached each other, police say the drivers both swerved to move out of the way, and ended up colliding.
“Both units made an evasive maneuver towards the berm and collided with each other,” according to a police report.
Meals’ truck caught fire and both he, and his passenger 27-year-old Cody Cotherman of Knox, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Switzer was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of serious injuries.
State police say their investigation into this crash remains ongoing.
