One week after a storm knocked out power to thousands and thousands of residents in Butler County, there are still 14 Central Electric Cooperative customers in the dark.
Six of the affected customers are in Clinton Township; three in Oakland; two in Clearfield; two in Penn and one in Fairview, as of Thursday morning.
“Things are going a little slow only because what is left are outages where there might be only one or two people at the end of the tap,” Ken Maleski, Central Electric spokesman, said in an interview on Wednesday evening. “It takes the same amount of time to restore a power line for one or two people as it does to open up a larger feeder that maybe brings up 100 people at the same time.”
Extra crews remain here in Butler County and continue to work to restore power. On Wednesday afternoon, there were still about 75 CEC customers in Butler County without service. As of 6 a.m. Thursday, that number was down to 14.
“We have every crew available working with us,” Maleski said. “We not only have all of our crews assigned and working, but we also have 12 outside crews from seven other electric cooperatives throughout the state who have made a decision to stay with us until the very last outage is restored.”
West Penn Power has restored all of its outages.
Last Thursday night, power was knocked out to more than 46,000 power customers in the county when an ice and snow storm brought down hundreds of trees and power lines.
