A portion of interstate 79 in Mercer County has been shut down after a truck caught fire Tuesday morning.
According to State Police, a fire started in the back of a tractor trailer hauling returned propane tanks shortly after 11 a.m. near exit 130 of I-79 south in New Vernon Township.
No injuries were reported but PennDOT and police closed off the right lane of the road as well as the exit 130 southbound off ramp to fight the fire and prevent the tanks from exploding.
The ramp will remain closed until sometime Tuesday evening to allow for cleanup at the scene.
