The second generation owner of longtime local business the Lyndora Bakery has passed away.
Helen Bristen of Renfrew died Saturday. Her father started the bakery in 1922 and she grew up working there. The shop is now owned by her son and daughter-in-law and remains open five-days-a-week on Chesapeake Street.
“She’d remember your name even if you hadn’t been in the bakery for 10 years,” daughter-in-law Debra Bristen told our newsroom. “She was really special.”
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home in Butler from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.
Bristen was 88 years old.
