Police suspect a Grove City man was driving drunk Friday night when he drove through a cemetery and slammed into a utility pole.
According to Mercer State Police, 30-year-old Louis Hebert was traveling up to 130 miles per hour on Route 19 in Springfield Township (near the Grove City Outlets) around 8 p.m. when he veered into oncoming traffic.
His passenger, a teenager from Grove City, apparently had to grab the steering wheel to avoid a collision.
The passenger told police he was scared for his life and wanted out of the car but Hebert wouldn’t let him out.
Eventually, the teenager jumped out of the car. Hebert proceeded to crash into a gravestone and then into a utility pole, shearing it in half.
Herbert initially fled on foot but police found him and took him to the hospital.
