A ‘Slow Down’ campaign begins Monday in Cranberry Township as officials try to encourage drivers to hit the brakes.
Yard signs, speed trailers and traffic counters will be placed in 24 township neighborhoods, along with increased police patrols, as part of the campaign.
Cranberry officials especially stress the importance of the slow-down because of its timing. Schools have dismissed for summer which typically brings children and pets out and around township roadways.
The program is in its fifth year locally and was built around a nationwide promotion to raise driver awareness of 25 miles per hour residential speed limits.
A second slow-down campaign is scheduled during the first week of school in August.
