The Butler County Courthouse and Government Center will be close to the public at noon on Friday except for very limited business.
The closure is a result of the ongoing construction of the Government Center Annex building taking place directly next to the Government Center in downtown Butler. A required power shutdown will take place at noon Friday for approximately 16 hours.
Several offices that need to remain available to the public (including the Prothonotary, Clerk of Courts, Register of Wills and Recorder of Deeds) will be set up in the Public Meeting Room on the first floor of the Government Center. A representative from Court Administration will also be available to accept Domestic Relations filings. No other employees or public will be allowed beyond the Government Center lobby or in the Courthouse after noon.
Power will remain off through at least Saturday morning. Normal operations will resume Monday, June 8.
***Special note: Due to the forced closure, there will be no marriage applications taken after 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 5. The office will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 8.
